Your Source for Weight Loss Program Information and Healthy Dieting
12 Dieting Tips and More
A weight loss program can be defined as an instruction or guide
with set goals, parameters and a system to assist people in achieving
healthy weight loss. The foundation of a
diet program is the combination of a healthy diet and exercise.
When both these foundations work together in unison, losing weight becomes
more viable and attainable. Combine the following tips with whatever dieting program you’re
thinking of or involved with and increase your probability of success.
1. Drink lots of water. If food is the gas for our bodies then water
is the oil. We need it to survive and keep our engines running. 2.
Think of weight loss as a lifestyle and life-long adventure. 3. Be disciplined.
4. Find your motivation from deep inside –through a past life
experience, a personal desire or something you know will constantly remind
you to strive towards your goal. 5. When you find your motivating
drive –write it down and stick it to your bathroom mirror or dresser to remind
you of what you’re striving toward.
6. Don’t lose heart. Sometimes we get discouraged with the diet we’re
on or our ability to follow it, but get ‘back on the bandwagon’ and continue
to persevere. 7. Plan 'cheat' meals or days. For example, if you’re offered a scrumptious
dessert at a friend’s place –don’t say no. Or, if you plan to religiously
follow your program from Monday to Saturday then consider cheating a little on
Sunday. Having planned moments of weakness is human and will keep you sane, give you something to look forward to and
satisfy your cravings. 8. Eat healthy amounts of fruits, veggies,
meats and fish and low-fat milk products. Then, eat half the portion you’d normally have
of all the bad stuff (like cheese cake). 9. Get some perspective. Many people in the world are starving, yet we’re
trying NOT to consume the oodles of food at our disposal. 10. Goals are motivating and it’s fun to reach them. Set
a goal weight and reach it. 11. Exercise. Exercise. Exercise. The
importance of exercise is ‘elementary my dear Watson.’ Whether you run, walk, lift weights or do chair aerobics –do
it consistently for long term success. 12. Eat whole foods and avoid packaged goods which contain preservatives,
coloring and other ingredients we can afford to live without.
