Walking for Weight Loss
Improve yourself
Walking for weight loss is a healthy, calorie-burning activity people of most
ages, shapes and sizes can enjoy. Walking
weight loss is one of many weight loss
tools allowing people to get outside, breath in fresh air and de-stress
without breaking a major sweat.
Walking works almost every major muscle in the body. It provides a great
workout by promoting better circulation and posture, improving the elasticity of
blood vessels and toning muscles. Walking assists with weight management by
upholding the metabolism and muscle mass which helps to burn calories. Since we
must burn 3500 calories to lose one pound, walking daily helps to achieve this
goal.
If your task is to shed one pound per week, the easiest way to do this is by
healthy eating and exercise. Combining both methods will maximize weight loss
and balance the burden of caloric input and output.
To effectively balance input and output, a leisurely stroll won’t do. Walking
for weight control must be taken seriously
and treated as a commitment like any other activity. If you’re able, brisk or
power walking is the best way to walk off pounds. Other than moving quickly,
distance is also an important consideration. For example, walking briskly for
three minutes a day won’t do much for weight loss, but walking for longer
distances will.
If you’re interested in a low-impact
weight loss breakthrough, grab a
friend, make a walking schedule and get out there. If none of your friends
are available to walk, consider getting a dog. Although pups do take some
work, they are excellent walking buddies and wonderful steadfast companions.
Just think --you and your pooch could even dress alike for the active
occasion--you in polar fleece and you pup in a polartec
dog coat.
