With so much focus on carbs, many diets are looking to differentiate themselves
from the rest by owning a unique phrase or position which sets them apart. In
the case of this diet born in South Florida, its unique selling points are:
“doctor-designed”, “foolproof”, “delicious” and “fast and healthy weight loss.”
Despite its glamorous name, this diet incorporates everyday foods, depends on a
3-phase approach and encourages its subscribers to eat selected items from the 4
healthy food groups. In addition, its beginnings were medically based.
Cardiologist Dr. Agatston had patients who needed to learn how to better their
cholesterol and insulin levels due to impending heart disease. Thus, he crafted
a low cholesterol diet program designed to help in this regard. These beginnings
and characteristics are some of the pluses associated with this diet.
Some may deem an obvious ‘minus’ to be the strict 2-week period meant to jump-start the diet. Devoid of fruit, this phase –although short, may be difficult to
adhere to, making the diet not as foolproof as it professes to be.
For those looking for a strict diet program consisting of
natural and healthy foods incorporated into an eating plan, this may be
a consideration for you. However, if you're not into having 'forbidden fruits'
restricted, it may be best to look for a more
flexible diet plan.
