The Real Deal on Mariah Carey’s Morsel Diet
The morsel diet recently hit the entertainment airwaves after Mariah Carey
mentioned she lost weight by eating “morsels” of food to slim-down for her
upcoming world tour. However, Mimi’s stark drop in dress size can be attributed
to more than just morsels of food. Exercise,
healthier eating habits and tiny treats are the cornerstones behind her
svelte new body.
At a recent press conference the pop diva made this comment in response to a
question regarding her recent drop in weight: "I kind of invented it (the morsel
diet). Basically you can have a tiny bit of everything you want. When I'm
really, really hungry I'll be like 'I need a morsel!' So they'll give just me
whatever is there (on the plate), but it has to be less than a forkful."
Unfortunately, the media has taken this comment out of context. What was meant
as a response to a question is being mistaken as diet
advice. Although her words may draw dieting hopefuls to the conclusion that
slimming-down is easy, they do not know the whole story.
Recently on E News Mariah revealed more details on her new diet. She noted using
a personal trainer as well as eating lots of “boring stuff” like steamed fish,
chicken and soup. Thus, it seems that 95% of her
weight loss success is due to the
aforementioned intensive diet plan she’s been on in preparation for the physical
requirements associated with being on tour, and 5% of the
diet plan is allowing her to have a morsel of
‘treat’ food if she has a craving.
So here’s the real deal: Eat a balanced, healthy diet 95% of the time and only
allow yourself to indulge in a morsel or two 5% of the time to keep you sane and
satisfy occasional cravings. In addition, exercise has obviously been a large
contributor to Ms. Carey’s drop in weight as she did mention consultations with
a personal trainer.
Mariah’s morsel diet is simply another way to say “eat healthily, exercise
frequently, and allow yourself a small treat on occasion.”
