Low Carbohydrate Diets –Miracle or Disaster?
Young Love
Low carbohydrate diets cause people to lose weight just like any other
low fat or heart-healthy
weight loss program.
People lose weight on a low carb or high
protein diet because most plans of this nature limit
calories per day. But is this
low carb diet a miracle or disaster?
Anytime a new diet sweeps the hearts and minds of eager dieters, people tend to
fall head over heals. Similar to young love, diets trends cause people to
blindly follow the 'nouveau' weight loss plan
without thinking of the consequences.
The inherent problem with strict, carb-inhibiting diets is they virtually take out
a food group -which is a clear element of the American and Canadian Dietary
guidelines. These guidelines are put in place to give people a healthy eating
roadmap to chart their dietary course –both for their health and wellbeing.
Carbs are an essential component of a healthy diet. The key is eat them in
moderation. Moderation protects us from indulgent and unhealthy eating practices
–yet few people follow this simple eating ideal.
Therefore, the verdict is that a low carb diet is somewhere between a miracle
and disaster. On one hand, it’s a great way to lose weight, but on the other
hand, if carbs are taken out completely -it’s not the healthiest way to lose weight. To make a low carbohydrate
diet healthy, practice moderation.
