Low carb dieting functions like many other
ways to lose weight in that it lessens and regulates calorie consumption.
Here is a brief explanation on the basics of
low carb diet programs so you can
determine if it’s the ultimate weight
loss.
How it Works:
Eating a diet low in carbohydrates is another inventive way to lower the amount
of calories consumed in a diet on a daily basis. As such, people lose weight
because they eat fewer calories. Carbohydrate-inhibiting diets became
‘all the rage’ a few years ago in response to the
low fat diet. Because many people went to
extremes on the low fat diet, they ended up consuming copious amounts of sugar;
consequently, carbs became a large part of their daily nutritional intake.
Therefore, diets like the Zone and
Atkins rose in popularity as people realized
that sugar was a prime suspect in their dieting dilemmas.
Why it Works:
Other than a low carb diet plan working because it lessen calories, it also
works because it typically changes a persons eating habits to include
more protein and the regular consumption of produce. Also, since candy, junk
food, specialty coffees and muffins tend to be a semi-regular part of our diets,
it’s no wonder people lose weight when they completely stop eating these items
and start eating proteins and produce on a more regular basis.
When it Works:
Like with any other diet, people tend to be super-committed when they start
their diet -especially when see dramatic results. However, it’s incredibly common for people
to fall off the diet bandwagon 3-6 months into the program because they find a
serious low carb diet too hard to maintain in day to day life. In addition,
depending on the strictness of the diet, eating a no-carb diet can be dangerous
over time as the body needs carbs to function properly.
Therefore, although the origins and basic principals of a
low carb diet plan are
sound, it may not be the ultimate weight
loss for everyone since so many other
weight loss programs are available which
follow a more balanced approach to eating.
