Dieting Tips for Long Term Weight Loss
Keep it Off
Every weight loss plan should have a long term weight loss strategy in place,
however most people forget about the future in the wake of ‘the now.’ Because we
want to look good ‘now’ we often disregard
weight loss solutions for the
future. Abiding by a healthy diet plan now as well as in 10 years will put
a stop to yo-yo dieting and likely improve the way you feel about yourself.
With that in mind, here are 5 dieting tips
for sustainable dieting:
1) Think of the future first and the present second. When searching for a
weight loss program, it’s important to
ask yourself if you can continue with the plan 10 years down the road.
If the answer is no, then it's probably best to search again and find
something that works with your eating style, activities, personality and
preferences. Choosing a diet against these criteria will provide a more accurate
idea as to how you’ll react to the diet.
2) Make sure your eating is rooted in healthy, natural and nutritious products.
This is extremely fundamental for long term dieting because if you’re eating a
host of meal replacements, supplements or low carb alternatives, what happens
when that diet philosophy goes out of style? Maintaining a diet based in
everyday, healthy foods will ensure your diet is easy to maintain and
future-friendly.
3) Think about your inside as well as your outside. Most of the diet industry is
focused on eating to improve outward appearance –but what about satisfying
health? When it comes to fast weight loss,
some people are sacrificing their health for their
outward appearance. This is completely backwards thinking. When dieting we must
first think of our inside.
4) Sustainable weight loss will be much easier to achieve with regular exercise.
To use a car analogy, if we continue to put gas into the engine
without ‘running’ the car –the car will become sluggish and not run at full
capacity. Similarly, to ensure you’re doing your best to run at full strength, embrace
health and your ability to exercise. Get in shape to burn extra calories, boost
your energy and improve your health.
5) Drink green tea. Believe it or not, the
benefits of green tea for
dieting and health are numerous. If consumed on a regular basis, green tea
is said to speed up the metabolism causing people to burn more calories per day.
Research is still being conducted on this subject, but given that this age-old
elixir has been in production for 4000 years, drinking a cup a day can’t
hurt…unless you can’t have caffeine.
