How to Incorporate a High Fiber Diet into Natural Weight Loss or a Low Fat Diet
Everyone Needs a Little Roughage
Without dancing around the subject, a high fiber diet aids with regularity. When
the roughage found in this type of diet is combined with
a low fat diet, natural weight loss is
enhanced due to higher contents of nutritious foods.
However, you don’t have to be on a full-time fiber diet to gain the
health benefits. In moderation, roughage can be
added to any diet to assist with healthy eating
and regularity.
Diets which are high in fiber are said to have many positive effects on the
body. There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. True to its name,
soluble fiber dissolves in water and can be found in foods such as dried beans,
vegetables and citrus fruits. In some cases, this type of fiber is noted to
assist with effective weight loss, as the foods it’s associated with tend to
keep people full for long periods of time.
Also true to its name, insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water due to its
relation with the structural part of plants. Examples of this type of roughage
can be found in the skins of fruits and vegetables as well as in whole grain
cereals like All-bran. Insoluble fiber is what encourages and promotes regular
movements to occur in the body’s digestive system. Because insoluble fiber
does not dissolve, it keeps the other matters moving at a regular pace
throughout the digestive tract.
Whether you’re on a diet or not, it’s easy to get stuck in a diet rut and always
eat similar foods. This is why changing-up or enhancing a diet with healthy
elements like legumes, fruits and whole grains is a great key to
successful weight loss.
