Weight Loss and Health Information for Dieters on the Run
3 Tips to Avoid Diet Disaster
If you have an ‘on the run’ lifestyle -eating out constantly, lunching with
friends or business associates and traveling the globe, it’s likely hard to
maintain weight loss and a
healthy diet. Yet it is possible to lead a
healthy lifestyle ‘on the run’ with some key pieces of health information for
those who are watching their weight or dieting.
Firstly, for anyone leading an 'on the run' lifestyle, it’s very important to drink
8 glasses of water per day. Dietitians assert that the moment you’re thirsty
you’re already dehydrated. So keep a glass beside your desk and a water bottle
in your briefcase or car. If you happen to enjoy a coffee or two throughout the
day, it’s increasingly important to drink more water as diuretics like coffee
are dehydrating. Note: if you find plain water boring, try to spice it up with
mint sprigs or a slice of lemon.
Eat balanced meals. Given that you’re actively thinking and moving from one
appointment to the next, eating a balanced meal will not only help sustain your
physical activity but fuel your brain activity as well. Skipping meals for the
sake of business is extremely common but detrimental. It upsets your system
and causes it to go into starvation mode and begin storing fat. In addition, you’ll be
distracted by your hunger and you may even encounter an embarrassing moment as
your stomach grumbles in a business meeting.
Lastly, snacking between meals is fine in moderation but it's best to snack on
the right foods. If you’re pulling a 9-5 day, it’s likely you’ll feel a little
drained around 3 or 4 pm. To offset this tiredness we tend to make a ‘Starbucks
run’ and fall for the sugary goodie sitting behind the glass window. Resist!
Instead, keep nuts and seeds in your desk and take some apples or
other fruits with you each morning that are easy to eat for snacks.
Don’t succumb to the fast-food and unhealthy nature of an 'on the run' lifestyle,
instead stay well hydrated, eat balanced meals and snack healthily to avoid diet
disaster.
