When it comes to finding the right diet plan, we can learn a lot from the meticulous preparation and apply it to our own quest on how to lose weight. If we applied a fraction of the planning that NASA practices, we’d likely be a lot more successful in achieving a healthy diet of our own.

Very few projects ever flourish without a solid plan. The same is true with dieting. We need both a sound strategy for finding our diets and the right plan to execute them. Before we can do any of these things, it would be helpful to know what diet plans are available.

Firstly there are two types of diets in the free plans arena: the simple healthy diets and the fad diets. An example of a simple healthy diet is “ban the beige” -a diet seeking to remind people to eat less beige-colored foods. A free fad diet is the 3 day diet or something like the grapefruit diet.

Secondly, there are major weight loss programs which have plans both online and through books or via face-to-face contact. Most of these diet programs are well-recognized, tried-and-true. Examples are Weight Watchers, Zone Diet or South Beach Diet to name only a few.

Finding the right plan comes down to what foods you like, your lifestyle, your goals and your drive. It’s worthwhile writing these things down before searching for a diet. Due to your planning, you may find you don’t even need to spend money because you can execute the diet on your own. By contrast, you may also find you need lots of accountability, so a more structured plan would serve you well.
