Diabetic Diet and Eating Healthy. The Two Go Hand in Hand.
Taking the Right Cues
People with diabetes have to follow a balanced diabetic diet to keep their blood
sugar levels in check. Whereas people without diabetes don’t have to be as calculated
about eating healthy because their
immediate health doesn’t always depend on the way they eat. If your
diet plan is in need of an overhaul, then take note of
these tried and true steps which may help give some cues about how
to update or change your diet for the better.
According to the National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse (NDIC), diabetics
on a
diabetes diet can keep their blood glucose level
at a healthy level if they “eat about the same amount of food everyday, eat at
about the same times everyday, exercise at about the same time everyday and take
their medications at about the same time everyday.” Obviously, if you don’t have
diabetes than you can disregard the above mention of taking medications.
Basically, this eating plan involves commitment, repetition and discipline. In
addition, it draws the utmost attention to the way we eat. For example, many
people eat without thinking - whether it is on the run or in front of the TV;
whereas this diet plan is professing the importance of being constantly
cognizant of dietary intake.
If we were all more aware of what, when and how we ate, our
diets would likely change for the better because
we’d be forcing ourselves to bring what we eat into the light and into our
immediate consciousness.
