A Flushing Process
Detox diets promote a toxin-flushing process which rids the body of unwanted
pollutants. This special diet plan is not
designed as a weight loss diet or
successful weight loss technique but rather a cleansing process for the
body. Because these diets have a specifically designed intent, they should not
be viewed as a long term weight loss solution, rather a short term purification
for the body’s system.
Supporters of the detox diet plan feel a
cleansing process needs to take place because of the toxins we are exposed to on
a daily basis. These pollutants can be found in everything from the water we
drink to the air we breathe. Although our body has built-in processes that
already release toxins, a detoxification diet philosophy deems that the body’s
normal toxin-secreting process is not always sufficient for ridding the vast
amounts of toxins which gather in our systems.
Part of the reason why some people subscribe to this specialty diet is because
they feel that the pollutants which gather in the body cause or add to ailments
such as skin conditions as well as nausea and tiredness to name only a few. Thus, aiding
the body in an occasional ‘decontamination’ procedure may alleviate some of
these symptoms.
Toxin-ridding diets should always involve a doctor or dietitian whose expert
opinion can determine whether it’s necessary or you are a good candidate.
