Calories vs. Low Fat Diets. Who wins?
Make Love Not War
With each year comes a new development in the diet industry. If you’re trying to
eat healthy and combine the eating
philosophies you’ve followed in the past, it can be challenging because many
diet-related developments seem to be contradictory. As such, we’ll find how the
calories we consume and low fat diets can make love not war.
Here’s the basic break down, if something professes to be ultra low-fat, then
the chance of it having high carbohydrates is high. Therefore, is it possible
to reconcile these two diet structures?
A diet with both low caloric intake and low fats is possible to achieve because
these two “means” are working toward the same “ends.” Therefore, for try and find a happy medium
when shopping at the grocery store. For example, when purchasing yogurt
try not to get the one with 0% fat, but rather the lower-fat version with around
2 grams of fat. And if you want to be really smart, then get low-fat plain
yogurt (without lots of added sugar) and add a small dollop of sugar-free jam
for the same effect.
The secret is looking at food as something that will either help or hinder your
weight. Think about in terms of “weight loss foods” or foods that won't be
detrimental to your diet regime. Next time you're at the supermarket continually ask yourself "will this help or hinder my weight." In doing so,
you’ll make wiser choices and not have to worry about being loyal to one diet
philosophy or another.
Neither dieting philosophy wins –because as we've found out, it’s not a competition
because both are working toward the same goal.
