The 1500 Calorie Diet and Weight Loss System Explained
Not Much Room for Extras
A 1500 calorie diet is a weight loss system
which is geared at individuals looking to limit their total
calories per day to 1500. In most cases,
a diet of this nature is prescribed to either lose weight, lower blood sugar or
lower risk of heart disease.
Typically calorie-conscious diets of this nature focus on a balanced approach to
eating by including lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats and
low-fat dairy. Other than suggesting eating nutritious and balanced meals, the 1500 calorie
weight management plan does not allow for extras like dessert, chips, pop or the
like. Essentially there is extremely limited space for junk food of any kind in order to stay
within the confines of the diet.
This low-cal diet employs a controlled approach to eating
to ensure effective weight loss. With that said, many people assume that
beverages don’t count towards the 1500 calories, but in actual fact they do.
Therefore, if you’re out for a Starbucks grande caramel macchiato or coffee frappuccino
you’re looking at adding a whopping 310 or 260 calories to your daily
caloric intake –in one
drink.
Therefore, if you’re looking into a diet of this kind, it’s important to
initially consult your physician. A strict calorie-reducing diet like this can
be beneficial, but is not the right fit for all dieters.
